1. End-to-end design of complex multi-part mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, including special purpose machines (SPMs) 2. Detailed design and drafting to GD&T standards, including tolerance stacks and fit/tolerance decisions for manufacturability 3. Selection of manufacturing and finishing processes (machining, sheet metal, casting, additive, plating and coating) suited to defence-grade and marine environments 4. Running DFM reviews with vendors and the shop floor before parts are released 5. Managing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) end to end: impact analysis, approvals, and documentation 6. Direct coordination with electrical and firmware engineers, the machine shop, and vendors to move hardware from design to build fast
What we're looking for
1. 5+ years designing complex multi-part mechanical and electromechanical systems, ideally including SPMs 2. Strong, practical command of GD&T and design detailing for manufacturing 3. Working knowledge of manufacturing and finishing processes (machining, sheet metal, casting/forging, surface finishing) 4. Experience running DFM reviews and handling ECRs in a fast-moving engineering environment 5. Ability to join on short notice or immediately 6. Bonus: marine or defence hardware experience, CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo or NX, and basic FEA
